Angora & Persian

Long haired cats, popular throughout the world, were first recorded in Europe at the end of the sixteenth century, when they were known as Angora cats, having been brought from Angora (now Ankara) in Turkey. Then, as further stock was imported from Persia (modern Iran) the name was changed to Persian Cat. It is from these original Angoras and Persians, as a result of careful and selective breeding, that the many beautiful Longhaired varieties of today have emerged.
